Deactivation of Auto-Home on BambuLab P1P: Preventing Extruder Contact with Print Bed at the Start of a Print on BambuLab P1P

The BambuLab P1P, a 3D printer, offers an auto-home feature that automatically positions the print nozzle to a specific point before each print. While this functionality is convenient, there may be situations where you want to deactivate this auto-home feature. For example, this might be necessary when printing presence lights, such as those available in our online store: https://www.3d2all.fr/boutique/?store-page=Lampes-Led-Personnalis%C3%A9es-c154427624, or for other specific types of prints. In this guide, we will explain how to deactivate the auto-home feature at the beginning of a print on your BambuLab P1P 3D printer (we believe this may also work on the X1C, although we haven't tested it).

Why Deactivate Auto-Home at the Start of a Print?

Deactivating the auto-home feature can be useful when you want better control over the initial position of the nozzle before starting a print. This is particularly relevant when you need to position the nozzle precisely for specific printing tasks or materials.

Steps to Deactivate Auto-Home

Follow the steps below to deactivate the auto-home feature at the beginning of a print on your BambuLab P1P 3D printer:

Creating a New Profile for the P1P Printer 1.1 Open BAMBU STUDIO on your computer and click on the edit profile button (image 1). 1.2 Click "Save" (image 2). 1.3 Give a name to the new profile (e.g., "Bambu Lab P1P 0.4 nozzle - Auto-Home disabled") and click "OK" (image 3).

Modifying the Gcode After creating the new profile, follow the steps below to modify the Gcode and deactivate auto-home:

2.1 Within the profile we created, open the "Machine gcode" tab (image 4). 2.2 Scroll down to the "Machine Start Gcode" section and find the line "G29.2 S1; enable ABL". Comment out this line (place a ";" at the beginning of the line) (image 5). 2.3 Scroll down a bit further and comment out all the lines from "===== bed leveling ===================" to "===== home after wipe mouth end ========" and save (images 6, 7, 8).

Test Print

Perform a test print with the created profile to confirm that the auto-home feature has been successfully deactivated.

Conclusion

Deactivating the auto-home feature at the beginning of a print on the BambuLab P1P 3D printer, along with other settings, allows you to print presence lights, such as those available in our online store: https://www.3d2all.fr/boutique/?store-page=Lampes-Led-Personnalis%C3%A9es-c154427624.
